Our winery in Ürzig is located right on the Moselle River. For many generations, our family has cultivated wine here in this incredibly beautiful cultural landscape.

In harmony with nature, we dedicate all our strength and skill daily to turning the harvest from our steep vineyards around Ürzig into high-quality wines. Every task in the vineyard and later in the cellar is carried out with the utmost care. Uncompromising quality is as important to us as our love for our grapes and the wines that come from them. We blend modern cellar technology with a pride in time-tested, centuries-old methods. All our Riesling and Pinot Noir wines, as well as our Rivaner, are grown in our vineyards around our winery in Ürzig, always with a view of the Moselle River.

In addition to our work in the vineyards, our family has warmly welcomed visitors for decades, offering the opportunity to vacation at a winery in Ürzig on the Moselle. In our wine bistro, we treat guests to dishes paired with our wines. We also invite you to a wine tasting on our terrace or in our garden overlooking the Moselle. Back to the Roots – How We Found Our Way Back to Our Moselle Winery in Ürzig

At first, Peter’s career seemed predictable, much like that of many family-run wineries. Growing up on a winery in Ürzig on the Moselle, studying viticulture in Geisenheim, gaining experience at wineries in the USA, France, and South Africa, and so on.

But then he met Annina. She had just started her music studies, and at 20, the big world of theater called to her more than the small Moselle town of Ürzig. Peter quickly changed course and found a job in business.

Yet, over time, his desire to return to winemaking grew stronger.

By then, he had already passed on his passion to Annina.

Together, they decided to take over and expand the now much-reduced winery on the Moselle from Peter’s parents. They quit their jobs, sold their house, and moved with their children, Charlotte and Konrad, from the Ruhr region to the Moselle.

They wanted to (re)connect with nature, to create something tangible with their hands, to live with the seasons, and above all: to make wines that reflect the moment and show what the steep slopes and slate soils of the Moselle have to offer.

With the principles of „hands over machines,“ „nature over herbicides or insecticides,“ and “laissez-faire” in the cellar—naturally controlled—Peter and Annina bottled their first own vintage at the Ürzig winery in May 2019.

In 1969, our parents, Dorothea and Walter, took over the winery in Ürzig from their parents. 50 years later, in 2018, they finally handed it over to us. With great enthusiasm and passion for one of the most beautiful things in the world, we aim to continue the tradition to which our family has been committed for generations: creating fine Riesling and Pinot Noir wines. We are also very excited to welcome guests to our new guest rooms, who wish to spend their vacation at the winery in Ürzig.

Born on the winery in Ürzig on the Moselle, I have known and loved wine from an early age. Therefore, it was no surprise that after graduating from high school, I chose to study viticulture in Geisenheim. After completing my studies there, I also graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering. Through my work both in Germany and abroad, including at the renowned Château Grand Traverse winery in the USA, I was able to expand both my professional and personal experiences.

When it became clear that my parents would no longer be able to run the winery due to age, the decision had to be made about the future of Erbes-Henn. For my wife and me, it was no question that we wanted to continue the family winery here in Ürzig. I am happy to work daily in and with nature, to craft my wines in harmony with nature, and to meet wonderful people during wine tastings.

After graduating from high school, I met Peter at a wine tasting (as expected!). Over the years that followed, I had the opportunity to immerse myself deeply in the world of wine, and it continued to fascinate me more and more. When the question of the future of the Ürzig winery arose, I didn’t hesitate for a second to join my husband in continuing the family tradition of „Weingut Erbes-Henn.“

At our winery in the heart of Ürzig, I am responsible for marketing and presenting our wines, both online and offline. At the same time, I love applying the skills I learned during my culinary training at our wine bistro. The combination of spices (I mix all of them by myself) and wine is something that excites me every day.

But the most rewarding part is the many personal connections I make with our wine-loving guests.

Charlotte

At Weingut Erbes-Henn, Charlotte Erbes isn’t just shaping the future of winemaking—she’s also blending the art of wine with her deep love for music. Growing up on the family estate in Ürzig, Charlotte developed a unique connection between the rhythms of nature and the melodies that inspire her. As a passionate winemaker, she believes that both wine and music are forms of expression—both require harmony, patience, and a deep understanding of their craft.

Charlotte’s approach to winemaking is influenced by her musical background, where the precision and creativity she learned from music flow seamlessly into the process of crafting exceptional wines. Just as music creates an emotional connection, Charlotte’s wines reflect the character of the land and the care put into every step of production, creating a symphony of flavors that is felt with each sip.

Whether she’s in the vineyards, cellar, or even playing an instrument, Charlotte brings a sense of balance and creativity to everything she does. Her passion for both wine and music adds a unique, personal touch to the family legacy at Weingut Erbes-Henn—a winery where every bottle is crafted with love, music, and nature in perfect harmony.

At Weingut Erbes-Henn, we craft wines that reflect the unique character of the Moselle region, produced with care and respect for nature. Our wines are 100% vegan, the ones with the red cap are made by using spontaneous fermentation. All our wines aged on the full lees for an extended period. These natural processes allow the true flavors of the terroir to shine through without any additives.
